Nora Maetzener is an Associate (pending admission) at AEL. Her practice draws on experience spanning criminal and public defense, appellate advocacy, and post-conviction litigation. She focuses on white collar criminal defense, government investigations, False Claims Act litigation, healthcare compliance and regulatory advising, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation.
Prior to attending law school and rejoining AEL as an Associate, Nora worked at AEL as a paralegal. In her prior role, Nora worked on a broad range of civil and criminal matters, providing analytical and case management support and written work product. Among other highlights, she assisted in the representation of a physician-client who was prosecuted in the Southern District of New York, and for whom AEL ultimately secured a favorable outcome. Nora was and is relied upon by AEL’s clients for her diligence, excellent work quality, and empathy.
Nora is a graduate of New York University School of Law, where she participated in the Federal Defender Clinic and Innocence Project Post-Conviction Clinic. She also served as the Participatory Law Scholarship Editor & Student and Practitioner Article Development Editor for the Review of Law and Social Change. During law school, Nora interned with the Center for Appellate Litigation and the Legal Aid Society’s Prisoners’ Rights Project. Nora received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University, summa cum laude. She was also awarded Highest Honors on her senior thesis in the Department of Sociology, “A Qualitative Analysis of the Impact of College-in-Prison Programs on Incarcerated and Non-Incarcerated Students: Perceptions of Self and Perceptions of Environment.”
