Jennie Yu

Jennie is a paralegal with AEL. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude with departmental honors from Barnard College of Columbia University in May 2022, earning a B.A. in History (concentration in Rights, Law, and the State) and a minor in Sociology. As a proud second-generation Korean-American daughter of immigrants and a low-income woman of color, Jennie is especially passionate about advocacy work benefitting historically excluded communities. In addition to her paralegal role at AEL, Jennie is a New York State certified rape crisis/domestic violence counselor and volunteers for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Domestic and Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) Program as a Survivors’ Advocate. She also has a great love for the performing arts, and has worked extensively in technical theatre as a stage manager and producer in New York City and across the East Coast.
