Jan focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, government investigations and enforcement matters, internal investigations, and white-collar criminal defense.
Jan is an experienced litigator, having represented institutional and individual clients in significant and complex civil cases. He has substantial litigation skills, including extensive experience preparing written motions, taking and defending depositions, and leading large-document, big data discovery on both the plaintiff and defense side. Jan brings a detail-oriented and practical approach to government and internal investigations as well. He represents both institutional and individual clients in high stakes government investigations, enforcement actions, and criminal cases.
Prior to joining AEL, Jan served as judicial law clerk for the Hon. Sandra Lynch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (2020-2021) and for the Hon. Paul S. Diamond, U.S. District Judge of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (2019-2020). Jan was also an associate at a top NY litigation boutique and a large LA-based law firm.
Jan is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent and Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. For undergrad, Jan attended the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is admitted to practice in both California and New York (pending).
